Jamie Redknapp lavished praise on Eden Hazard following his sparkling man of the match performance in Chelsea’s 4-0 thrashing of Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Belgian playmaker was at his imperious best as Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a superb victory on the south coast.

Hazard opened the scoring for Chelsea in just the third minute with a cool finish.

Willian then made it 2-0 to the visitors when he rounded off a fine attacking move with a brilliant finish into the top corner.

The 27-year-old continued his brilliant form in the second half and netted his second goal of the game in the 77th minute.

And Victor Moses then wrapped up the victory with a quality touch and finish in the 89th minute.

Hazard looks like he is hitting top gear again for Chelsea following his brilliant display on Saturday, and Redknapp was clearly impressed by what he saw from the Belgian against the south coast club.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, ex-midfielder Redknapp said: “If VAR looked at his performance I think some of it would have been illegal!

“He was playing a different game.

“Willian and Batshuayi were fantastic as well but some of the things he did, his movement, the way he stops and starts – he was just at his energetic and beautiful best today.”

Hazard and his Chelsea team-mates will now turn their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and the return leg of their semi-final clash against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
