Emerson Palmieri has agreed a deal to sign for Chelsea FC this month from Roma, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the 23-year-old left-back has agreed to join Chelsea FC from the Italian side this month as Antonio Conte finally manages to bolster his options in defence.

The same report says that the Brazilian has agreed a deal worth around £80,000 a week to move to Stamford Bridge as the Blues’ second signing of the January transfer window.

Emerson has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea FC in recent days and has been touted as being part of a double deal including striker Edin Dzeko.

The Brazilian defender has only just recently recovered from a serious injury but it seems that Conte has identified him as the man to strengthen his options at left wing-back.

It now remains to be seen whether Chelsea FC will be able to conclude a double deal for both Emerson and Dzeko before next week’s transfer deadline.

However, the same story says that Emerson is expected to sign for Chelsea FC this month even if the Blues’ proposed move for Dzeko were to fall through.

Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are preparing to host Newcastle United in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
