Antonio Conte replies when asked if striker will be Chelsea FC’s second January signing
Antonio Conte replies when asked directly if Chelsea FC want to sign Peter Crouch this month
Antonio Conte remained coy when quizzed about the speculation linking Chelsea FC with a move to sign Peter Crouch in the January transfer window.
The Blues have been linked with a host of attacking players in recent days as Conte considers bolstering his squad at Stamford Bridge in the mid-season window.
Chelsea have already secured the signature of Ross Barkley from Everton this month as the west London side moved quickly to bring in the England international at the start of the month.
It is widely believed that the Blues are also in the market for a new striker this month as Conte looks to add a quality back-up option for Alvaro Morata up front.
Stoke striker Crouch is one name to have been linked with a surprise move to Stamford Bridge this month.
However, Chelsea boss Conte refused to give much away when asked if the rumours were true or not.
Asked directly whether a move to sign Crouch was a possibility, Conte told a news conference on Friday afternoon: “I’m not interested in this conversation, also because this is disrespectful for my players, for the other players, for the players of the other clubs.
“As I said before: in this period there is a transfer market, if something happens, you know. You are the first to know (the) news.”
Chelsea now switch their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and the second leg of their semi-final clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
