Rio Ferdinand names the perfect striker Chelsea FC need
Rio Ferdinand suggests that Antonio Conte could make a move to bring Tammy Abraham back from his loan at Swansea
Rio Ferdinand has told Antonio Conte to turn to Tammy Abraham in Chelsea FC’s search for a new striker.
The Blues have been linked with a host of attacking players in recent weeks as Conte considers bolstering his attacking options at Stamford Bridge in the mid-season window.
Chelsea FC have already been busy this month after having completed the signing of Ross Barkley from Everton at the turn of the year.
However, the west London side continue to be linked with a move to sign a new forward as Conte looks to find a back-up striker for Alvaro Morata.
Abraham is currently on loan to Swansea City from Chelsea FC and former Manchester United star Ferdinand has urged the Blues to consider making a move to bring him back to the club this month.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday night, Ferdinand said: “The two that have been mentioned, Andy Carroll I believe he just got injured and Peter Crouch has been a great player over the years but is coming to the end of his career.
“Chelsea have had Tammy Abraham in their ranks, who is a tall, rangy player. You’d put him on the side of being a target-man.
“So maybe he fits that bill – why isn’t he being brought back from loan to fill that part?”
Chelsea FC return to League Cup action on Wednesday night when they take on Arsenal in the second leg of their semi-final clash at The Emirates.
The two London sides played out a goalless draw when they met in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier in the month.
Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday with a 4-0 win at Brighton.
