Chelsea FC consider bid to sign Spanish striker before deadline – report
Chelsea FC could try to sign Fernando Llorente from Tottenham Hotspur before Wednesday's transfer deadline, according to reports
Chelsea FC will consider a move to try and sign Fernando Llorente from Tottenham Hotspur before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the west London side have the 32-year-old forward “in their sights” if they fail in their bid to land their top target Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.
The same story says that Antonio Conte is “desperate” to land a new striker this month and that Llorente is now Chelsea FC’s back-up option to partner Alvaro Morata at Stamford Bridge.
Llorente was linked with a move to Chelsea FC last summer before he ended up signing for their London rivals Spurs.
However, the same article claims that Spurs could “easily” recoup the £12m they spent on signing Llorente last summer if Chelsea FC do indeed make a bid for the striker.
The same report says Conte is still a “massive fan” of the Spanish striker, despite him now reaching the twilight years of his career.
Meanwhile, Conte is currently preparing his Chelsea FC side for their home Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The Blues head into that game fresh from their 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
