Chelsea FC will pay in the region of £50m to sign Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma, according to reporter Aidan Magee.

The defending Premier League champions are in the market to sign a striker in the January transfer window to ease the workload on summer signing Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea FC were initially linked with a move to sign West Ham striker Andy Carroll and Stoke City target man Peter Crouch.

However, Dzeko has emerged as a more plausible signing given the 31-year-old’s previous experience of winning two Premier League title at Manchester City.

The Bosnia international scored 65 times in 130 games in the Premier League during four and a half seasons at the Etihad Stadium before a switch to AS Roma in 2015.

Sky Sports News reporter Magee shed light on Chelsea FC’s deal to sign Dzeko and Palmieri is edging close but no agreement has been reached between all three parties.

“Let’s find out what Chelsea FC are up to,” Magee told Sky Sports News on Friday night.

“Our Sky colleagues in Italy are reporting that a deal has been agreed between Chelsea FC and Roma over the signing of Edin Dzeko.

“There’s still some work to do on personal terms and the length of contract. The fee could reach as high as £50m and will include Emerson Palmieri.

“However, Roma’s sporting director Monchi says nothing has yet been agreed.”

Chelsea FC signed England international Ross Barkley in a £15m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the January transfer window.

The Blues won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Antonio Conte.

The west London side are in third spot in the Premier League table.
