The defending Premier League champions have made no secret of their desire to sign a target man in the January transfer window after being linked with Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch.
However, Chelsea FC’s pursuit of a new forward has led the title holders to former Manchester City man Dzeko, who appears a more plausible target given his exhaustive experience in the Champions League.
Dzeko won the Premier League twice as well as the FA Cup and the League Cup during his four and a half season spell at the Eastlands outfit.
Chelsea FC summer signing Alvaro Morata has struggled with a series of minor injury problems in recent months, while the 24-year-old’s goals have started dried up.
The Blues are n the market to sign a left-back to provide further squad depth and Palmieri has emerged at the top of their wishlist.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth claimed that Chelsea FC will spend £50m on signing Dzeko and Palmieri in the January transfer window.
“Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea FC looks further down the line,” Sheth told Sky Sports News on Thursday morning.
“It’s thought that a fee close to £50m has been agreed for both [Dzeko and Palmieri] and Palmieri is happy with the terms of his contract.
“Chelsea FC allowed Kenedy to join Newcastle on loan on Tuesday.”
Chelsea FC have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons.
