The defending Premier League champions limped out of the League Cup on Wednesday night following a 2-1 loss to their bitter rivals Arsenal in the second leg.
Chelsea FC have only managed to win of their last six games in all competitions to heap pressure on manager Antonio Conte despite being a mere 18 months into his reign.
The Blues are 15 points adrift of current leaders Manchester City in the title race, while Chelsea FC will take on Spanish giants Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.
Hazard is reported to be in negotiations with Chelsea FC about a new contract, although reports have suggested that Real Madrid could raid the west London club for the Belgian.
The 27-year-old has regularly been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the former Lille star has persevered with the title holders.
However, with Chelsea FC drifting further off the pace at the top of the table, former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes this summer could finally spell the end of Hazard’s Stamford Bridge career.
“I don’t see Hazard there next season,” Merson told The Debate on Sky Sports on Thursday night. “That’s why Barkley was brought in to work under Conte now.
“I am sure Real Madrid will come in for Hazard. Madrid are a bad team at the moment. They need world class players like Hazard.”
Chelsea FC have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons.
