Chelsea FC are “running out of time” to complete a deal for AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Bosnia international emerged as Chelsea FC’s top target in the January transfer window last week despite the Blues being linked with a number of different strikers over the past month.

Unlike possible targets such as Andy Carroll and Ashley Barnes, Dzeko has plenty of Champions League pedigree during a decorated career in England, Germany and Italy.

Dzeko, of course, won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup during a four and a half year stay at Manchester City before he moved to AS Roma in 2015.

The towering Bosnian striker has scored 47 times in 89 games in Serie A during his spell in Italy so far to attract interest from defending Premier League champions Chelsea FC.

However, Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol revealed that Chelsea FC have a lot of hurdles to overcome to complete a deal for the former Manchester City man.

“Chelsea are running out of time to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma and we’re told there are now question-marks about his deal,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.

“Dzeko started for Roma against Sampdoria on Sunday night. Roma supporters made their feelings very clear – they’re angry the owners are even think of selling their number one striker.

“Chelsea also have concerns about spending almost £30m on a 31-year-old. Dzeko himself is also worried about how much game-time he’d get at Chelsea and personal terms have been a real issue.

“Lots of hurdles to overcome on this one.”

Dzeko netted a respectable 50 goals in 130 appearances in the Premier League under Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini.

The Bosnian striker earned a reputation as a prolific striker during his four-season spell at German club Wolfsburg.
