Antonio Conte told 31-year-old striker would improve Chelsea FC
Martin Keown backs Chelsea FC's pursuit of AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window
Martin Keown believes AS Roma forward Edin Dzeko would be a great addition to the Chelsea FC team.
The defending Premier League champions have been linked with a potential move to sign the Bosnia international.
The Blues were initially touted with an interest in West Ham striker Andy Carroll and Stoke forward Peter Crouch.
Dzeko would be a plausible target for Chelsea given the 31-year-old striker has four and a half years of Premier League experience.
The Bosnian forward won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup during his spell at Manchester City.
The AS Roma striker netted 50 goals in 130 games in the Premier League during his spell at the Eastlands outfit.
Former Arsenal defender Keown has endorsed Chelsea’s pursuit of the Bosnian striker ahead of the close of the January transfer window.
“Edin Dzeko’s performances in the Champions League have been sensational,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Such is his form that he was on the list for the Ballon d’Or.
“Manchester City would not want to sign their former player, while Manchester United and Liverpool are sorted in that area. It looks like Dzeko would be a good move for Chelsea.
“It would be interesting to see how he and Alvaro Morata would play together.”
Chelsea signed Alvaro Morata in a £58m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The Blues are in third place in the Premier League table and 15 points behind current leaders Manchester City.
