The Blues have been heavily linked with a move to land the Bosnian striker in recent days as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his strike-force before the close of the transfer window on Wednesday night.
There was no official announcement from Chelsea FC about the proposed deal but it had been reported that the west London side were struggling to agree personal terms with the striker.
Now, Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has claimed that Chelsea FC’s bid to sign Dzeko has fallen through because of a failure to reach an agreement on wages and length of contract.
Solhekol wrote on Twitter on Monday night: “Edin Dzeko deal from Roma to Chelsea off because of failure to agree personal terms – wages and length of contract requested.”
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea FC will be able to sign any more players before Wednesday night’s transfer deadline.
Meanwhile, the Blues are currently gearing up for their home Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as they look to try and keep their bid for a top-four finish on track.
Chelsea FC booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday.
