Chelsea FC are interested in signing Emerson Palmieri from Roma this month, according to reporter Bryan Swanson.
The Blues are believed to be on the lookout for further reinforcements in the January transfer window as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his squad at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have already been busy this month and have secured the signing of Ross Barkley from Everton.
The west London side are thought to be in the market for a left-back, and 23-year-old Roma star Palmieri has emerged as a potential target for the Blues in recent days.
Now, Sky Sports News reporter Swanson has confirmed that the Blues are indeed exploring the possibility of signing the Brazilian defender this month, but nothing has yet been agreed.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Friday night, Swanson said: “Sources at Roma have told us today that the club are discussing Palmieri’s potential departure but they’re still discussing other incomings and outgoings. Nothing has been finalised at this stage.”
Emerson has only recently recovered from a serious injury and has only made one Serie A appearance for Roma so far this season.
Chelsea are currently preparing for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The Blues and the Gunners played out a goalless draw when the two teams last met in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier in the month.
