Chelsea FC are closing in on a deals to sign Emerson Palmieri and Edin Dzeko from Serie A giants AS Roma, according to reports.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Chelsea are still in negotiations with the Italian club to sign the left-back and the striker.

The same article states that the Blues are ready to cough up £44m to bring both Dzeko and Palmieri to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

According to the same report, the defending champions have already agreed terms with Paliemri but the west London side are thrashing out the details of Dzeko’s proposed contract.

Dzeko is a name familiar to Premier League supporters after the Bosnia and Herzegovina international scored 72 times in 189 games in all competitions.

The Blues have already signed Ross Barkley in a cut-price £16m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the January transfer window.

Chelsea are in the market to sign both a left-back and a striker to provide much-needed cover for Marcos Alonso and Alvaro Morata.

The defending champions will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.
