Ex-midfielder rates Kenedy’s display for Chelsea v Norwich City
Jermaine Jenas was impressed by Kenedy's performance for Chelsea against Norwich on Wednesday night
Jermaine Jenas was impressed by Kenedy’s performance for Chelsea in their FA Cup clash with Norwich City on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian was handed a rare start by Antonio Conte and put in a solid shift in west London during the FA Cup third-round clash.
The 21-year-old has only made a total of five appearances in all competitions for the Blues this season but he looked like he is ready to fight for a first-team spot in the second half of the campaign.
Chelsea required penalties to secure their place in the fourth round after Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Willian dispatched their efforts in the shootout.
Former Tottenham midfielder Jenas was clearly impressed by Kenedy’s performance for the Blues in the FA Cup clash.
Speaking during BBC Sport‘s coverage of the game, Jenas said: “I don’t think it’s been a great Chelsea performance, but I think that Kenedy, in both halves, really gave a good account of himself, so I’m giving it [the man of the match award] to him.”
Chelsea, who won the title in Antonio Conte’s first season at the club last term, will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday lunchtime.
The Blues’ stuttering form in recent weeks has caused them to drop down into fourth place in the Premier League table.
Their main aim will now be to make sure that they secure a top-four finish to seal a place in next season’s Champions League.
