Michael Owen believes Chelsea will beat Leicester City to return to winning ways at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

The defending Premier League champions played out a frustrated 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium last time out.

Chelsea were in action on Wednesday night when the Blues settled for a goalless stalemate with Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

The title holders are in third place in the Premier League table but only a point adrift of Manchester United in the race to secure the Champions League spot.

Chelsea were 2-1 winners against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium earlier in the season, while the Blues signed Danny Drinkwater from the Foxes in the summer.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea to come out on top in a high-scoring game against Leicester at Stamford Bridge.

“Since losing at home to City back in September, Chelsea have won their last seven home Premier League games and have conceded just three times in the period,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Blues were in Carabao Cup semi-final action on Wednesday but I do not expect fatigue to play a part given the strength of Antonio Conte’s squad.

“The Foxes have scored and conceded in 14 of their 22 league games so far this term and they may find the back of the Blues net on Saturday.

“They don’t have a great recent away record, however, against “big six” opposition given they are without a win in their last 12 PL away games.”

Chelsea have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Antonio Conte.

The Blues signed six players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Chelsea added England international Ross Barkley in a £15m deal from Everton in the January transfer window.
