Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea v Newcastle
The Liverpool legend is backing Chelsea to beat Newcastle in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to beat Newcastle United in a low-scoring FA Cup fourth round clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The defending Premier League champions will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their League Cup exit on Wednesday night.
Arsenal came from behind to secure a 2-1 against title holders Chelsea in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash.
Chelsea are 15 points adrift of runaway leaders Manchester City to rule out the successful defence of their Premier League title.
The Blues will be targeting the Champions League and the FA Cup this season to ensure Antonio Conte can get his hands on some more silverware.
Chelsea will take on Newcastle in the FA Cup fourth round at Stamford Bridge as the west London side are pitted against their former manager Rafael Benitez.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is tipping Chelsea to beat Newcastle at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon.
“Newcastle have not reached the fifth round since 2006 and I cannot see the Magpies getting a result at Stamford Bridge at the weekend,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Blues have reached the fifth Round in 17 of the last 19 seasons and I expect Antonio Conte’s side to win a low-scoring affair on Sunday. Newcastle entertain Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday and it would be no surprise to see Rafa Benitez prioritise three points against the Clarets over the FA Cup.”
Chelsea have only managed to win one of their last six games in all competitions following one victories, one defeat and four stalemates.
The Blues haven’t won the FA Cup crown since 2012 when Roberto Di Matteo’s side beat Liverpool FC in the Wembley final.
