Ross Barkley has praised Chelsea for their solid form in Antonio Conte’s second season in charge at the club.

The Blues earned plenty of praise last term after they won the Premier League title in Conte’s first campaign at Stamford Bridge.

However, the west London side did not have the distraction of European football last term and they have struggled to maintain their top domestic form while also competing in the Champions League this season.

Chelsea are currently in third place in the Premier League table and still in all three cup competitions as Conte looks to make it another successful season at Stamford Bridge.

Barkley confirmed his transfer to Chelsea on Friday when he signed a five-and-a-half year contract with the Blues after leaving boyhood club Everton.

And the England midfielder has heaped praise on Chelsea for the strong start they have made to the campaign so far.

Speaking in his first interview with Chelsea TV, Barkley said: “The team have been doing really well. The lads have been on a good run recently.

“Obviously the festive period is tough, with games coming thick and fast, but hopefully I can be a good addition to the squad and we can continue that and get some success along the way.”

Chelsea are currently preparing for the first leg of their League Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Blues played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with the Gunners at The Emirates in the Premier League last week.
