Antonio Conte has insisted that he was pleased with the performance of Kenedy during Chelsea’s goalless draw at Norwich in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

The Brazilian has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Chelsea team in recent months and he is yet to make a single appearance in the Premier League this term.

Kenedy has been limited to just four appearances in cup competitions for Chelsea this term and he played 78 minutes of the Blues’ goalless draw at Carrow Road at the weekend.

The 21-year-old will be hoping to stake his claim for a regular spot in the first team at Chelsea in the coming weeks and months during the second half of the campaign.

Speaking after Saturday’s game, Conte revealed his delight at both Kenedy and David Luiz’s performances for the Blues upon their returns to the side.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Conte said: “Today, I gave the opportunity to Kenedy to play the whole game and I think he played a good game.

“David Luiz came back after a long time and we didn’t concede a goal.

“For sure, there is a bit of disappointment because we want to go to the next round and instead we have to play another game.”

Chelsea are now preparing for the first leg of their League Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Blues played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with the Gunners when the two sides met in the Premier League at The Emirates last week.
