Gary Lineker has taken to social media to claim that Leicester City “battered” Chelsea in the first half of their 0-0 draw in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues and the Foxes played out a goalless draw in west London as neither team were able to break the deadlock after 90 minutes.

Leicester City had a total of 14 shots during the game, but only one of which was on target, while Chelsea had 17 and seven on target.

It was another frustrating afternoon for Chelsea, who have now drawn their last three games in all competitions 0-0 after the stalemates against Arsenal and Norwich City in the cup competitions.

And former England star Lineker was clearly impressed by the Foxes’ display in the first half at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Leicester battered Chelsea 0-0 in the first half. They had 12 shots, the most any team have had in the first 45 mins in a PL game at Stamford Bridge for 15 years.”

Chelsea must now dust themselves down and aim to prepare to return to FA Cup action with their third-round replay against Norwich at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The Blues, who won the title in style last season, are currently in third place in the Premier League table but could be overtaken by Liverpool FC on Sunday depending on the Reds’ result against Manchester City at Anfield.
