The injury-prone striker has emerged as a surprise target for the defending Premier League champions in the January transfer window given the 29-year-old persistent fitness problems over the past two or three seasons.
Carroll has scored two goals in seven starts and five substitute appearances in the English top flight this term in another campaign that has been dominated with injury problems under Slaven Bilic and then Moyes.
The 29-year-old has a modest record at West Ham following a disappointing return of 32 goals in 124 games in all competitions since his move to the east London side from Liverpool FC in 2012.
Sky Sports News reporter Swanson provided an update on Chelsea’s pursuit of the England striker in the January transfer window.
“It is an interesting one because where would he fit into that style of play at Chelsea? How many games would he play at Chelsea?” Swanson told Sky Sports News on Monday.
“At West Ham at the moment he seems to be in a bit of form now. He’s part of something at West Ham that David Moyes is looking for. That [story] will gain a bit of momentum, where it goes, whether he will end up at Chelsea, I’m not quite sure.”
Conte is thought to be desperate to add some more firepower to his Chelsea squad given his apparent lack of faith in Belgium international Michy Batshuayi to support his star striker Alvaro Morata.
Chelsea missed out on the signing of Fernando Llorente in the summer transfer window after Tottenham Hotspur signed the former Juventus striker.
