Antonio Conte replies when asked if Chelsea are signing 29-year-old striker
Antonio Conte discusses reports linking Chelsea with a move to sign striker Andy Carroll from West Ham
Antonio Conte remained coy when quizzed about the speculation linking Chelsea with a move to sign Andy Carroll from West Ham in the January transfer window.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a number of players this month as Conte considers bolstering his squad in the mid-season transfer window.
Chelsea have already made their first January signing after tying up a deal to land midfielder Ross Barkley from Everton last week on a long-term contract.
The west London side are believed to be on the lookout for a number of other signings this month and a striker is a potential position the Blues could look to strengthen to try and lighten the load on Alvaro Morata.
Carroll, 29, is one name to have been linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge this month.
However, Conte was in no mood to give anything away when he was asked directly if Carroll could be a target for the west London side in the January transfer window.
Asked about the reports linking Carroll with Chelsea, Conte told a news conference on Tuesday at Cobham: “I am very happy to work with my players and I’m very happy with the commitment of my players.
“The club knows very well the positions we can improve. Now there is a transfer market.
“If there is a possibility to find a good solution to improve the squad I think the club knows very well my opinion.”
Chelsea are now preparing for their Premier League clash against Leicester City as they look to try and climb the table and get closer to Manchester City.
