Transfer insider: Chelsea FC will complete second January signing in ‘matter of hours’
Chelsea FC will sign Edin Dzeko in a matter of hours, according to Italian reporter Tancredi Palmeri
Chelsea FC will complete a deal to sign AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko in a “matter of hours”, according to Italian reporter Tancredi Palmeri.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a move to sign the former Manchester City forward over the past week or so.
The defending Premier League champions have struggled to land a target man in the current transfer window to provide back up for Alvaro Morata.
Indeed, Chelsea FC were even linked with a potential swoop to sign West Ham striker Andy Carroll and Stoke City forward Peter Crouch.
Dzeko seems a more plausible target given his respectable return of 50 goals in 146 games in the Premier League for the Citizens.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has been in prolific form since his permanent move to AS Roma in 2015.
Dzeko has netted 46 goals in 87 appearances in Serie A, while the Bosnian striker has scored 13 times in 23 European outings.
Serie A expert Palmeri took to Twitter to claim that the 31-year-old forward will become a Chelsea FC player in the near future.
Palmeri wrote on his Twitter page: “Dzeko-Chelsea: should be a matter of hours. Roma considering if to wait first for Sampdoria-Roma game tomorrow”
Chelsea have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
