The Blues have been linked with a move to sign a centre-forward on a regular basis over the past month or so.
Summer signing Alvaro Morata has lost confidence and form as the Spain international succombs to the rigours of the Premier League.
His understudy Michy Batshuayi has scored some crucial goals under Antonio Conte but has struggled to push Diego Costa or Morata for a first-team spot.
Chelsea came close to signing former Juventus striker Llorente in the summer but the Spanish forward opted to move to their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day.
The west London side were also linked with a surprise move to sign West Ham United striker Andy Carroll over the past week or so.
Daily Telegraph reporter Burt confirmed Chelsea are in the market to sign a striker but poured cold water on talk of Carroll swapping London clubs.
“I am not sure Chelsea are looking for Carroll but they do want a big physical striker up front,” Burt told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Someone of Llorente’s mould is what Chelsea are looking for. They are looking to do something in this window.”
Chelsea finished in top spot in the Premier League table last term to win their second title in three seasons.
The Blues signed Morata in a £58m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
