Steve McManaman named Emre Can as his man of the match after the German midfielder played a hand in two of Liverpool FC’s goals in a 3-0 win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

The Reds made the trip to the promoted side looking to end a two-game losing run following surprise defeat by Swansea City in the Premier League and West Brom in the FA Cup.

Can’s future has been a source of relentless speculation over the past few months amid talk of Juventus signing the versatile midfielder in a free transfer at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old broke the deadlock in the first half at Huddersfield when the German’s long-range strike was deflected past Jonas Lossl in the home side’s goal.

Roberto Firmino extended the visitors’ lead on the stroke of half-time with a deft finish at the near post to put Liverpool FC in firm control at the John Smith Stadium.

Can won a second-half penalty to allow Mohamed Salah scored his 19th goal of the season and put the result beyond doubt.

Former Liverpool FC captain McManaman heaped praise on Can after his man of the match performance at Huddersfield.

“I’m going to go with Emre Can [for man of the match],” McManaman told BT Sport.

“He had a really good game and put in some really good crosses.

“I know it’s been a nice easy game for Liverpool but he’s been really instrumental in a lot of good things that have come Liverpool’s way.”

Liverpool FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table and level on points with third-placed Chelsea FC.
