Steven Gerrard singled out Roberto Firmino for a “moment of magic” after the Liverpool FC forward scored in a 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

The Brazil international is enjoying his best season in a Liverpool FC shirt so far and the South American took his tally to 11 goals in the Premier League at Huddersfield.

Emre Can broke the deadlock midway through the first half when the versatile midfielder’s long-range shot was deflected past Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.

Firmino put the Reds in control of the Premier League clash on the stroke of half-time when he managed to evade the Huddersfield defence and beat Lossl at his near post.

Summer signing Mohamed Salah polished off a straight forward win with a late effort from the penalty spot after Can was fouled inside the area.

Former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard was full of praise for Firmino for his decisive strike to help the Reds end a two-game losing streak.

“The goalkeeper has got to stop that, but it is a moment of magic from Firmino as well,” Gerrard told BT Sport.

“Anyone else in that position would cross but he sees that little opening. Not many players would see that, and he just gives him the eyes and whips it into the net.”

Firmino has scored 17 times in 31 games in all competitions for Liverpool FC in his third season at the Anfield club.

The Reds moved level on points with third-placed Chelsea but remain behind the Blues on goal difference.
