Steven Gerrard was impressed with Liverpool FC’s variety in the final third of the pitch after Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
The Reds were looking to end a two-game losing run in all competitions following a 1-0 loss to Swansea City in the Premier League before a 3-2 defeat by West Brom in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend.
Liverpool FC made the breakthrough in the first half when Emre Can’s deflected strike beat Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl after a dominant start from the 18-time English champions.
The Reds extended their lead on the stroke of half-time when Roberto Firmino managed to evade the Huddersfield defence and squeeze his finish past Lossl at the near post at John Smith Stadium.
Liverpool FC wrapped up three points in the second half when Egypt international Mohamed Salah scored his 19th goal in the Premier League this season from the penalty spot.
Former Reds captain Gerrard was impressed with Liverpool FC’s response to their recent setbacks after Tuesday night’s 3-0 win at Huddersfield.
“Liverpool were good in the wide areas,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“They counter-pressed really well. They had more variety in the final third tonight and they thoroughly deserved the win. They were dominant throughout.”
Liverpool FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table and level on points with defending Premier League champions Chelsea.
The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Premier League rival Southampton.
