Michael Owen believes Liverpool FC will avoid successive Premier League defeats when Jurgen Klopp’s side make the trip to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

The Merseyside outfit lost 1-0 to the Premier League’s basement Swansea City last week to end their 18-game unbeaten run in the English top flight.

Liverpool FC succumbed to a 3-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield at the weekend to crash out of the competition prematurely.

The Reds are in fourth place in the Premier League table and two points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure a Champions League.

Spurs will host top-four rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Liverpool FC will have the chance to move five points ahead of Tottenham if Klopp’s side beat Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night before Tottenham are in action 24 hours later.

The 18-time English champions were 3-0 winners against Huddersfield Town at Anfield during the festive schedule.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Reds to secure three points at the promoted side despite their back-to-back defeats.

“The last time (November 1959) Huddersfield beat Liverpool my former club were in the old second division and the Reds have kept a clean sheet in their last six games against the Terriers,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Jurgen Klopp has never lost back-to-back in the Premier League and I expect his side to bounce back following their defeats at Swansea and their home loss to West Brom in the FA Cup last weekend.”

Liverpool FC will take on Portuguese giants FC Porto in the Champions League last 16 next month.
