Jose Mourinho admits he’s delighted by ‘fantastic’ Man United star
Jose Mourinho discusses Jesse Lingard's brilliant form for Manchester United in recent weeks
Jose Mourinho has revealed his delight at how well Jesse Lingard has been playing for Manchester United in recent weeks.
The England international has been one of the Red Devils’ top performing players of late after seemingly struggling to win over Mourinho following his appointment at Old Trafford in May 2016.
Lingard has been in superb form in recent weeks and was once again named as the man of the match as he hit Manchester United’s opening goal in their 2-0 win over Derby in the FA Cup third round on Friday night.
The 25-year-old has now scored five goals in his last six games in all competitions and has been earning huge amounts of praise for his brilliant displays.
And Mourinho has admitted his delight with the way that Lingard has been performing for Manchester United in recent weeks.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Old Trafford on Friday night, Mourinho said: “It was a great shot by Jesse Lingard in the top corner, he’s in a moment of confidence where things go well for him.
“He’s a good professional and a fantastic kid in the dressing room.”
Manchester United will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home game against Stoke City at Old Trafford on Monday week.
Mourinho’s men are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they look to try and close the gap down to Pep Guardiola’s leaders.
