Liverpool FC, Arsenal will have to spend £90m to sign top 22-year-old – report
Liverpool FC and Arsenal will have to pay as much as £90m to land Thomas Lemar from Monaco this month, say reports
Liverpool FC and Arsenal will have to pay as much as £90m to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco this month, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Premier League outfits would have to pay as much as the £90m Arsenal bid for Lemar on transfer deadline day back in August to successfully prise Lemar away from the French side.
The same report says that Monaco have no intentions to sell Lemar on the cheap, especially seeing as Liverpool FC have just received a bumper transfer fee for the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
The story says that Monaco’s “tough stance” on their valuation of Lemar could put Liverpool FC off making a move for the 22-year-old attacker this month.
The article claims that Liverpool FC were keen on signing Lemar in the summer but did not table an official bid for the France international.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are thought to still want to sign Lemar as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, whose future continues to be a relentless source of speculation.
Lemar has scored two goals and made four assists in 13 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco so far this season.
Liverpool FC have already completed their first signing of the January transfer window after landing defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.
