Liverpool FC have had a bid to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker rejected by AS Roma, according to reports in Italy.

Italian newspaper Il Tempo, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Reds have failed in an attempt to try and lure the 25-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper to Anfield this month.

The goalkeeping situation at Anfield has been a big source of debate this season, with neither Simon Mignolet nor Loris Karius managing to convince between the posts.

The same report says that Liverpool FC have had their first bid for Alisson rejected by the Italian club, although the size of the Reds’ bid is not known.

The story says that Roma have already informed the Premier League clubs that Alisson will cost £44m and that the Italian club want to keep hold of him until the summer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool FC suffered another disappointing defeat on Saturday night when they were beaten 3-2 by West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Anfield.

The Reds must now dust themselves down as they look to try and get back to winning ways by beating Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Liverpool FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table.
