Jurgen Klopp delivers latest update on new Liverpool FC signing
Jurgen Klopp hints Liverpool FC signing Virgil van Dijk will make his Reds Premier League debut on Monday
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Virgil van Dijk is “completely fine” as the defender eyes making his Premier League debut for Liverpool FC on Monday night.
The Netherlands international signed for the Reds from Southampton at the turn of the year as Liverpool FC moved quickly to bolster their defensive options in the mid-season transfer window.
Van Dijk has already made his Anfield debut for the Reds and scored the winner in the 2-1 victory over Everton in the FA Cup third round earlier in the month.
However, he sat out last weekend’s 4-3 win over Manchester City due to a minor injury.
But speaking at his weekly news briefing on Friday at Melwood, Klopp hinted that Van Dijk will be in contention to feature for the Reds when they travel to Swansea City in the top flight on Monday night.
Klopp told his news conference on Friday: “Virgil was back yesterday [Thursday] and completely fine.”
Klopp also delivered updates on Mohamed Salah, Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan.
He continued: “We have a few problems with players feeling ill or unwell. Raggy was out, but hopefully back today. Dejan was out. Mo Salah was out, but hopefully back today.
“Mo and Raggy are on the good side of it already, but with Dejan we are not 100 per cent sure [if he will be back today].”
Liverpool FC head into their clash with the Swans in third place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and qualify for the Champions League for the second season running under Klopp.
