Martin Keown names Liverpool FC player who has ‘really stepped up’ this season
The Arsenal legend names the Liverpool FC player who has really improved this season
Martin Keown has praised Roberto Firmino for making a marked improvement at Liverpool FC this season.
The Brazil international has started his third season at the Anfield outfit in impressive style following a return of nine goals and four assists in 21 appearances in the Premier League.
Firmino netted six times and created three goals in six Champions League group stage games to help Liverpool FC set up a last-16 meeting with Portuguese giants FC Porto.
The South American forward has already surpassed his season-best tally in a Liverpool FC shirt after he scored 12 goals in 41 games in all competitions last term.
Liverpool FC summer signing Mohamed Salah has dominated the headlines at Anfield thanks to his 17 goals in 21 league games, while Philippe Coutinho has hit top form to earn renewed interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.
However, former Arsenal defender Keown has named Firmino as Liverpool FC’s most-improved player in the Premier League this term.
“Everything is geared for Liverpool to go forward, their full-backs pushing forward, but Roberto Firmino is the one who has really stepped up his game this season,” Keown told BBC Sport.
Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers signed Firmino in a £29m deal from Bundesliga giants Hoffenheim in the 2015 summer transfer window.
The Reds are in fourth place in the Premier League table and three points clear of their closest challengers Tottenham Hotspur.
