The Citizens are sitting 15 points clear of their closest challengers Manchester United at the top of the table following an outstanding run of 20 victories and two stalemates.
Liverpool FC are 22 points adrift of the runaway leaders and Manchester City were resounding 5-0 winners against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Etihad Stadium back in September.
However, the Reds looked to be giving Manchester City some problems in the first half before Sadio Mane received a controversial red card minutes after Sergio Aguero’s opening goal.
Only Manchester City have scored more goals than Liverpool FC in the Premier League this season, while Klopp has bolstered his defence with the addition of Virgil van Dijk.
Former West Ham striker Gale is backing Liverpool FC to cause Manchester City plenty of problems in their top-four clash at Anfield at the weekend.
“Liverpool will press Manchester City like they’ve never been pressed,” Gale told Sky Sports News on Wednesday morning.
“It will be high-octane stuff and if anyone’s going to do it [beat City] it’s going to be Liverpool, because there have been signs that City, that under the press – particularly the centre-backs – you can nick the ball off them. That will be Liverpool’s plan.
“They’ll try and play this game at 100 miles an hour and at the same time have the composure to go on and make chances themselves.
“It’s a great game in store. This is one of the few games I think will be super stuff. It’s not going to be 0-0 in a month of Sundays.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a place in the Champions League following a two-season absence.
The Reds sold Philippe Coutinho in a reported £142m deal to La Liga giants Barcelona last week.
