Steven Gerrard reacts to Emre Can’s display in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win at Huddersfield
Steven Gerrard was impressed by Emre Can's goal in Liverpool FC's 3-0 win over Huddersfield on Tuesday night
Steven Gerrard praised Emre Can for a “wonderful” strike as the midfielder scored Liverpool FC’s opener in their 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The German midfielder, whose future has been a source of uncertainty in recent weeks, set the Reds on their way towards victory with a deflected low effort in the 26th minute.
Roberto Firmino then made it 2-0 to the visitors when he scored with a neat finish on the stroke of half-time.
And Mohamed Salah made the points secure when he fired home his penalty in the 79th minute to seal the win.
Liverpool FC legend Gerrard admitted that there was an element of luck about Can’s goal but also praised the midfielder for the quality of his finish.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Gerrard said: “To be fair to Andy Robertson, he puts a half-decent cross into the box.
“It only gets half-cleared and it’s a wonderful strike from Emre Can, albeit with the help of a deflection.”
The victory was a welcome one in Liverpool FC’s bid to finish in the top four.
It kept them in fourth place in the table as they now turn their attentions towards their crunch home clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.
