The Reds finally allowed Coutinho to leave Anfield and sign for the Spanish club on Monday after months of speculation linking the Brazilian with a move to Camp Nou.
Liverpool FC are widely reported to have received a transfer fee of as much as £145m for Coutinho and that has inevitably prompted speculation that the Reds could splash the cash in the January transfer window.
The Merseyside outfit have already completed the signing of defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a big-money deal this month.
However, Spanish football expert Balague does not feel that the Reds are going to be bringing in a direct replacement for Coutinho this month.
Speaking to the Transfer Talk podcast, Balague said: “I’d be surprised if they signed a Coutinho replacement in January.
“Klopp needs to understand who the person is coming to the club, not just what kind of player they are.
“Getting close to those kind of targets allow him to target one player or other.”
Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are fourth in the table as they seek to secure Champions League qualification for the second successive season under Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.
