Christian Purslow has urged Liverpool FC to make signing a world-class goalkeeper a priority in the January transfer window.
The Reds have already been busy this month after having secured the signing of defender Virgil van Dijk in a big-money move from Southampton.
The Merseyside outfit also finally agreed to let Philippe Coutinho leave the club to fulfil his dream of playing for Barcelona and the Brazilian’s switch was confirmed on Monday.
Liverpool FC are bound to be linked with a host of players this month as they look to try and enjoy a successful second half of the season under Jurgen Klopp.
And former Liverpool FC chief Purslow has urged Klopp to make a move to bring in a top-class goalkeeper this month, with nether Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius being consistent enough in his opinion.
Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports, Purslow said: “The obvious need is for a world-class goalkeeper.
“If there is one thing I’d like the [Coutinho] money to go on, it would be a world-class goalkeeper.”
Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League showdown against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are out for revenge after they lost 5-0 to Pep Guardiola’s men in the top flight at The Etihad back in September.
Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.
