Ian Wright: Liverpool FC summer signing passed first test with ‘flying colours’
Ian Wright has been impressed by what he has seen from Andy Robertson for Liverpool FC so far this season
Andy Robertson passed his first real Liverpool FC test with flying colours, Ian Wright says.
The Scotland international moved to Liverpool FC from Hull City in an £8m deal in the summer transfer window.
Robertson was signed to provide Spanish defender Alberto Moreno in the Liverpool FC squad in the 2017-18 season.
Jurgen Klopp used the Scottish full-back sparingly in the opening months of the season, but the defender has come into his own over the past month.
The former Hull defender has capitalised on Moreno’s absence due to injury with a series of influential performances in the Liverpool FC team.
And Robertson was one of the shining lights in Liverpool FC’s 4-3 win against Premier League leaders Manchester City at Anfield last weekend.
The summer signing managed to tame in-form Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling to help Liverpool FC to become the first team to beat the leaders in the Premier League campaign.
Former Arsenal striker Wright lavished praise on Robertson following his outstanding display against the Citizens.
“You look at Robertson. His pace and support for the front men,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“He is lightning quick. He is a good defender. He is only going to get better. He kept [Raheem] Sterling quiet.
“Those are the games you judge people. He passed the test with flying colours.”
Robertson has made one assist in 10 appearances in the Premier League following his summer move.
The 23-year-old has also made one appearance in the FA Cup and the League Cup.
