Ian Wright raves about Liverpool FC star after victory over Man City
Ian Wright explains why he is backing Sadio Mane to step his game up for Liverpool FC this season
Ian Wright has claimed that Sadio Mane looks like he is getting back to his best at Liverpool FC.
The Senegal international is widely regarded as one of Liverpool FC’s top attacking players and has been earning plenty of praise since his move to the Merseyside club from Southampton.
Mane scored Liverpool FC’s third goal in their thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Jurgen Klopp’s men became the first team to beat the Citizens in the top flight this term.
The 25-year-old has now scored six goals and made four assists in 15 Premier League games for Liverpool FC so far this season.
He has also scored three times in the Champions League and made one assist.
And Arsenal legend Wright believes that Mane will soon rediscover his best form at Anfield as he gets used to playing alongside Liverpool FC attacker Mohamed Salah.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Wright said: “It’s a massive goal for him. We’ve spoken about his body language since the emergence of Mohamed Salah.
“He hasn’t played to the levels that we’ve seen last season. I don’t think Liverpool have been as dependent because of the way Salah and others have played.
“He was back to his best [against Man City]. The way he played and he scored such a great goal – that’s where your confidence comes from.
“I hope Mane will kick on and get to the level he played at before.”
Mane will be hoping to start for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Monday night with a trip to the Liberty Stadium to take on Swansea City.
The Reds are currently third in the table as they chase Champions League qualification for the second season running under Klopp.
