Sky Sports reporter: Liverpool FC star considering his future at Anfield
Simon Mingolet's long-term future at Liverpool FC could be in doubt, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie
Simon Mignolet is considering his long-term future at Liverpool FC after holding talks with Jurgen Klopp, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.
The Belgian goalkeeper has struggled to fully convince Klopp that he is worthy of being the Anfield club’s number one shot-stopper over the last few seasons.
Mignolet was in the headlines last weekend when Klopp opted to drop the Belgian and instead start Loris Karius in goal for Liverpool FC’s 4-3 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, Mignolet still seems to be Klopp’s preferred option between the posts, with the Belgian having started 19 of Liverpool FC’s 23 Premier League games so far this season.
However, it seems that the rotation policy implemented by Klopp this season is beginning to cast doubt about Mignolet’s long-term future at the Merseyside outfit.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Wednesday morning, Downie said: “To Liverpool we go now and some interesting quotes coming from goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
“He says he’s thinking about his future after being left out of the starting line-up for Sunday’s win over Manchester City.
“Mignolet has spoken to Jurgen Klopp about being dropped and about rotation with Loris Karius.”
Mignolet will be hoping to win back his place in the Liverpool FC starting line-up when the Reds return to Premier League action on Monday night with a trip to Swansea.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification for the second season running under Klopp.
