The Egypt international signed for the Reds from AS Roma in the summer months and has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers since his move.
Salah continued his fine form on Sunday afternoon when he fired home Liverpool FC’s fourth goal in their thrilling 4-3 win over Premier League leaders Manchester City at Anfield.
The 25-year-old has now scored 18 goals and made six assists in 22 Premier League games for the Merseyside outfit so far this season in a sparkling debut campaign on Merseyside.
And Souness has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from the Egypt international since his arrival at the club from the Serie A side in the summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Souness said: “This little guy, I think he’s gone way beyond the expectations of most, chipping in with goals.
“He looks the most threatening. What he wants to do all the time is run in behind with pace and stretch the opposition.
“If you’re playing against someone like him, you’ve always got one eye on the half-turn. You’re always looking over your shoulder. He is a real threat.”
Liverpool FC are now in fourth place in the Premier League table as they prepare for their top-flight clash against Swansea City on Monday night next week.
The Reds will be hoping to finish in the top four once again and secure qualification for the Champions League for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
