Mark Lawrenson is tipping Liverpool FC to get back to winning ways by booking their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory over West Brom at Anfield on Saturday night.

The Reds head into the game looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of their Premier League defeat by Swansea City last Monday.

Liverpool FC booked their place in the fourth round of the competition thanks to a thrilling 2-1 victory over local rivals Everton, with new signing Virgil van Dijk scoring the winner on his debut at Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit will view the FA Cup as a big chance of winning their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp and former Reds defender is tipping them to progress this weekend.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: After their defeat on Monday night against Swansea, Liverpool badly need to win this game.

“As I have said before, I think the FA Cup is important to them this season – or at least it should be.

“In contrast, I would not have though that West Brom boss Alan Pardew will mind too much if his side go out of the FA Cup, because his brief was to keep the Baggies in the top flight.

“West Brom are still waiting to do a bit of business in the transfer window to try to get a striker in – and the £3m release clause in Jonny Evans’ contract if they go down explains why they are willing to listen for offers for him now.”

Liverpool FC have already been busy in the January transfer window, after having signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton at the turn of the year.

The Reds also agreed to let Philippe Coutinho leave Anfield and sign for Barcelona after he incessant speculation about his future at the Merseyside outfit.

Liverpool FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification for the second season running.
