Liverpool FC are in contact with Barcelona via Philippe Coutinho's representatives, say reports
Liverpool FC and Barcelona are now in contact via Philippe Coutinho’s representatives to discuss a possible January transfer, according to reports in the British media.
The Times is reporting that the Spanish club are willing to significantly increase their offer for the 25-year-old playmaker, who has been relentlessly touted as a target for the Spanish club since the summer.
There has inevitably been an increase int he speculation about Coutinho’s future at the club in recent days after the transfer window reopened this month.
Now, the same report says that Barcelona are proposing a transfer fee worth as much as £142m including add-ons.
The story says that Barcelona are prepared to pay Liverpool FC a base figure of around £106m, with the rest of the fee coming in instalments as Coutinho reaches various milestones at the Spanish club.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool FC will agree to do business this month or perhaps wait until the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, the Reds now have their attentions firmly fixed on their crunch Premier League clash with Manchester City at Anfield next weekend.
Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners at Burnley last week as they continued their good form in the top flight.
