Jurgen Klopp urged to make ‘stupid’ Liverpool FC offer to sign 24-year-old goalkeeper
Robbie Savage tells Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp to target Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland
Liverpool FC should make a “stupid offer” to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, Robbie Savage has suggested.
The England international has been a regular in the Stoke team over the past few seasons since his move from Birmingham City in 2013.
Mark Hughes spent just over £3.3m on the 24-year-old shot stopper to improve his goalkeeping options at the midlands club.
Liverpool FC have been in desperate need of a new goalkeeper to replace inconsistent shot stoppers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
In particular, Mignolet has struggled to convince since his move in 2013, making a string of errors to cost Liverpool FC points.
Jurgen Klopp has been regularly linked with a move to sign a new goalkeeper to finally tackle a difficult problem in his team.
Former Leicester midfielder Savage believes Liverpool FC should make a huge bid to sign to Butland from Stoke in January.
“For me, I’d go and sign a goalkeeper. Put a stupid offer in for Jack Butland. Maybe £30m or £40m,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Butland could be feeling unsettled at Stoke given Hughes’ sacking at the weekend following Stoke’s poor performances in recent months.
Liverpool FC have conceded 28 goals in 23 games in the Premier League this season, with a particularly poor record on the road.
The Reds signed Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton earlier in the January transfer window.
