Jurgen Klopp replies when asked if Liverpool FC are considering a move to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal
Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule out a possible move to bring Alexis Sanchez to Liverpool FC from Arsenal.
The Reds are believed to be on the lookout for a replacement for Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian finally completed his big-money transfer from the Reds to Barcelona on Monday last week.
Liverpool FC have already signalled their intention to bolster their squad this month after tying up a deal to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton at the start of the window.
With Coutinho having left Liverpool FC for a hefty transfer fee, there is bound to be plenty of speculation linking the Reds with moves for a number of players this month.
Sanchez’s future has been a relentless source of speculation of late after he entered into the final few months of his contract at Arsenal, meaning that he could be available on the cheap in January or for free in the summer.
And Klopp stopped short of completely ruling out a move for Sanchez when quizzed about his plans for January on Friday.
Asked whether Sanchez could be targeted as a replacement for Coutinho, Klopp told his media conference on Friday at Melwood: “Replacement? First of all we have to replace him internally.
“We have our eyes open in this window but we won’t do crazy things. “If we do something… we don’t need to ‘replace’ him, we need to step up.
“We have played fantastic football without Phil. We only have to carry on.”
