The Reds have already agreed a deal with the German club to sign the 22-year-old midfielder in the summer at the end of the season, but there have been suggestions that the Merseyside outfit could try and bring him to Anfield early.
Liverpool FC have already cashed in on Philippe Coutinho this month after agreeing to sell the Brazil international to Barcelona on Monday.
Balague believes that Liverpool FC could be ready to make a move to pay extra to secure the signing of Keita in January rather than wait until the end of the season as has previously been agreed.
Speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, Balague said: “I think Liverpool are going to try to offer more money if necessary, call it a loan deal, but they want to offer more money to Leipzig.
“Keita is not performing at his best level. He’s only scored a couple of goals, he seems a little bit distant. He must have his head somewhere else.
“This is the kind of deal that is so difficult to understand.”
Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their first game since Coutinho’s sale to Barcelona when they host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool FC have already signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton this month.
