Reporter suggests Liverpool FC could make ‘interesting’ signing in January
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth says Liverpool FC are free to sign Schalke 04 forward Max Meyer
Liverpool FC could cough up a transfer fee for Schalke 04 forward Max Meyer in January depending on Philippe Coutinho’s situation, reporter Dharmesh Sheth has suggested.
The Reds sold their number 10 Coutinho to Barcelona in a £142m deal over the weekend to lose one of their best players ahead of the second half of the season.
Liverpool FC rejected a number of approaches from the Catalan side in the summer, but the Reds relented and allowed Coutinho to seal his dream move to Camp Nou.
Meyer has been a name linked with a potential switch to Liverpool FC since Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers at Anfield back in October 2015.
The 22-year-old has netted 21 times in 163 games in all competitions for the German club since making his debut for the Bundesliga team back in 2012.
Meyer will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, which means Liverpool FC could agree to a pre contract with the Germany international starting from this month.
Alternatively, Liverpool FC could recruit Meyer in a cut-price deal in January.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth suggested that Liverpool FC could make an offer to sign Meyer this month to secure a vital attacking recruit.
“Meyer is an interesting one. He could sign a pre contract agreement now or Liverpool could pay some money now,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast on Sky Sports.
The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window before adding Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal in January.
