The Reds sanctioned the £142m sale of Coutinho to La Liga giants Barcelona at the weekend to end the attacking midfielder’s eight-season spell at Camp Nou.
Liverpool FC have an inflated transfer budget for the remainder of the January transfer window should the Reds opt to bolster their squad in the summer.
Coutinho’s departure has left a huge void in Jurgen Klopp’s team to leave Liverpool FC short on options in the middle of the park.
The 18-time English champions have already spent £75m on Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk earlier in the January transfer window.
Verratti has won four Ligue 1 titles, three Coupe de France crowns, and the Coupe de la Ligue four times during six seasons at the French giants.
Former Liverpool FC chief executive Purlsow suggested that Verratti would be an astute addition to the Reds team in the wake of Coutinho’s exit.
“Go and buy Marco Verratti from PSG,” Pulsow told Sky Sports.
“Who has won the league in the last two years? Leicester and Chelsea. What was the common denominator? N’Golo Kante.
“Would he have made Liverpool better? Indisputably. He is a world-class player, I just think Liverpool have to aim high.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table to secure a return to the Champions League for the first time in two seasons.
The Reds were 2-1 winners against Everton in the FA Cup third round at Anfield last week.
