The Reds head into the game having lost 5-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side in the top flight at The Etihad back in September.
Manchester City have gone on to clearly establish themselves as the favourites for the Premier League title, with Guardiola’s side flying high at the top of the table.
Liverpool FC, meanwhile, are fourth as they try and close the gap to the Premier League leaders down as much as possible.
However, Klopp seems to be in a confident mood as the Reds prepare to welcome their Premier League rivals to Anfield this weekend.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp said: “We have to pay back, in a football way.
“We have such a strong group here, they really love working together, if you would have seen the sessions this week they are on fire.
“I love that, but that doesn’t mean we will win against Man City, but that does mean we can be really difficult for City.”
Klopp’s Liverpool side are preparing to take on FC Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League next month.
The Reds have already been active in the January transfer window after concluding a deal to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.
The Merseyside outfit also agreed to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona last week and he was officially unveiled as the Spanish side’s signing last Monday.
