Charlie Nicholas tips 21-year-old striker to score first Liverpool FC goal v West Brom
The Arsenal legend is confident Dominic Solanke will get on the score sheet in a Liverpool FC win over West Brom in the FA Cup
Charlie Nicholas is backing Dominic Solanke to open his Liverpool FC account with a goal in a comfortable win over West Brom in the FA Cup fourth round.
Liverpool FC will welcome the Baggies to Anfield on Saturday afternoon in search of a swift return to winning ways following a surprise 1-0 loss to 20th-placed Swansea City.
The Reds struggled to breakdown a stubborn Swansea defence as the Welsh outfit adopted a defensive approach that echoed West Brom’s efforts at Anfield back in December.
Alan Pardew’s side battled to a goalless draw against Jurgen Klopp’s free-scoring side despite the Baggies being involved in a relegation battle this term.
Solanke has featured in 18 games in all competitions this season but the Liverpool FC starlet has been limited four starts and 14 appearances from the bench.
While the former Chelsea striker impressed during pre-season with a handful of goals, Solanke is still waiting to find the net in a competitive game.
However, former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is backing Solanke to get on the score sheet in a comfortable Liverpool FC win in the FA Cup fourth round.
“If I’m Alan Pardew I’m not quite wishing my team to be out before a ball is kicked but the worst case scenario for them is a replay,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“I thought they should have beaten Everton last weekend and you can get at Liverpool if you sit in and counter. I think this will be awkward again for Jurgen Klopp, especially if the big guns are left on the bench, but I see them coming past a weakened Baggies side.”
Liverpool FC haven’t won the FA Cup crown since 2006 and lost to Solanke’s former club Chelsea in the final at Wembley in 2012.
