Piers Morgan warns Man United star he’ll be benched after Alexis Sanchez signing
The Arsenal shareholder warns Jesse Lingard to expect to drop to the bench following Alexis Sanchez's move to Man United
Piers Morgan warned Jesse Lingard on Twitter to expect to drop to the bench following Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United.
The Red Devils completed a deal to sign the Chile international on Monday evening following weeks of speculation surrounding his future.
Manchester United have made Sanchez their best paid player in history following his controversial switch from Arsenal to Old Trafford.
The new number seven will battle it out with Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Lingard for a place in Jose Mourinho’s team.
Lingard has been Manchester United’s best player in recent weeks following five goals and one assist in his last eight appearances in all competitions.
Indeed, the Manchester United youth graduate has netted 11 times and created four goals for his team-mates in 30 appearances so far this term.
But Arsenal shareholder Morgan believes Sanchez’s arrival could result in Lingard dropping to the bench.
Morgan wrote on Twitter: “He’s taking your place sunshine, enjoy the bench. 😂😂”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but 12 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
The Red Devils will take on Yeovil Town in the FA Cup fourth round at the weekend before a trip to top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday 31 January.
